With his laugh-a-minute comedy saga fashioned to please all, director Anwar Rasheed romps home in Annan Thambi with a well-knit storyline etched in commercial elements. With expectations running high after the hit Rajamanickyam, Rasheed once again joins hands with Mammootty, and they succeed in infusing a breath of fresh air into an old storyline.
When the fight between twins Achu and Appu (Mammootty) become more frequent their parents try to keep them apart by sending Appu to his uncle’s home in Pollachi. Meanwhile a dumb Achu stays home playing an active role in his father’s drama troupe.
Benny P Nayarambalam’s script is only average, as is Lokanathan’s camera work. But Rahul Raj through his music succeeds in elevating the movie’s tempo.
The rib-tickling cameo played by Suraj Venjaramoodu, Salim Kumar and Harisree Asokan is the cynosure of all eyes. And besides, it’s Mammootty in full form — always a delight to watch!
