Story:
The story opens with a mad pregnant lady running towards a temple. She runs inside the main temple and closes the door. She gives birth to a boy there at the feet of Lord Krishna’s idol and breathes her last. The doors of the temple will be closed as the people of that place believe that the birth of a mad woman’s child in ‘garbhagudi’ is a bad omen.
The boy grows up in the guardianship of his grand mother (Manorama). He is named Arjun (Vishnu). He goes as a body guard to Satya (Mamta Mohandas) the sister of a rich landlord (Nazar). Arjun and his grandmother live in the out house of Pedababu’s (Nazar) bungalow. Arjun will be ill treated by everyone. As an astrologer says that Satya’s first husband will be killed and she lives happily with second husband, Pedababu plans to get Satya married to Arjun first. With that he intends to marry Satya to a rich man once Arjun is killed. He betrays Arjun and gets him wed locked with Satya. Then he conspires to kill him. And who is there to rescue Arjun now? Lord Krishna (Nagarjuna) comes for him.
Arjun gets some extra powers with the companionship of the Lord. He wins over the evils that obstacle his peace and family life. He also results in opening the doors of the temple.
Performances:
Mamta Mohandas appears in the skimpiest skirt for about 90 percent of the movie. There is no scene where her thighs are not shown. That looked very odd and vulgar. It didn’t add any sensuous appeal as well. She failed in giving several expressions while rending dialogues and performing in songs.
Vishnu is ok in his shoes. He needs to cut down his weight still. Nagarjuna is given a God’s role and that is just ok. As the overall drama in the movie didn’t bring conviction, his role also didn’t get any aura.
Mohan Babu comes abruptly in 2-3 scenes and also sings a song.
Manorama is still active and justified the role given to her.
Music by Keeravani is not up to the mark. The orchestration is very bad. Lyrics can be hardly heard amidst the cacophonous sounds of orchestra. Especially the song sung by Mohan Babu in second half didn’t get into the heads of anybody. Vocal clarity is completely missing in that. Last remix song ‘Yama Ranju meeda undi..’ from Rowdy Gari Pellam also spoiled the original fervor.
Camera work by Om Prakash is impressive but the editing part proves to be disturbing.
On a whole P Vasu is the main culprit for the plight of this movie.
Analysis:
This well written story is brought on to celluloid in a wrong manner. The story is ok, although knitted within the conventional formula. But the narration part proved to be very weak. The screenplay and dialogue part are very horrible and literally brings boredom to audiences. There is no comedy scene in the film that brings laughter. Every so-called comedy scene is inferior.
P Vasu’s conceiving of scenes recall us Chandramukhi. He didn’t leave the horror and mystery hidden behind the ‘shut down door’ episode even in this film.
4-5 scenes are copied directly from ‘Bruce Almighty’ and the concept of white suited Almighty and innocent Bruce is also adapted to this. Other than those scenes, all other scenes are below the bearable limits.
Audiences have walked out from theater when the songs are rolling on screen. That’s the importance of songs in this film! The songs come abruptly and in irritable manner. The film brought many expectations due to the big casting and the Laxmi Prasanna banner. The openings are really good but the output is pretty bad. The subject would have been dealt in a far better way if proper home work was done on it. But now it’s a post mortem that’s remained.
To sum up, the film ‘Krishnarjuna’ is a boring flick on a whole. Only the crowd pulling names like Nagarjuna and Mohan Babu should save this project.
