No Smoking Hindi Movie Online

Cast: John Abraham, Ayesha Takia, Paresh Rawal, Ranvir Sheorey.
Direction: Anurag Kashyap

A movie coming from Anurag Kashyap, the director of Black Friday is always something to look forward to. And despite major opposition from the Shahid- Kareena starrer Jab We Met , No Smoking seemed to have had its own niche. But alas, sometimes the urge of a writer-director to satisfy his own creativity can take the movie completely off balance. And that is exactly what happens in this case... A unique plot which goes topsy-turvy because of a pseudo-intellectual screenplay!.

K (John Abraham) is a chain smoker with an attitude problem. His wife Anjali (Ayesha Takia) threatens to leave him if he does not change his habits. His mysterious friend Abbas Tyrewala (Ranvir Sheorey) recommends him to a rehabilitation centre. When K arrives there he finds out that the place is no ordinary centre which uses standard methods of making you quit smoking. It’s run by Baba Bengali (Paresh Rawal) who forcefully makes K sign on an agreement where the former will abide by Baba’s conditions in order to quit smoking or else will have to face dire consequences.

The film begins really well in Siberia and the curiosity builds up instantly. In fact the first half is really gripping. Baba Bengali’s run-down institute is really imaginatively done and is a delight to watch. Some things are really out of the world and if you follow foreign cinema you will be able to associate with them.

But it’s the last 40 minutes of the film which leaves you confused completely. I might be a dimwit not to understand the ending but then again there are very few who would. In simpler words this film is not for the masses. But then if your target audience is niche then why do you promote your film with an item number Mr. Anurag?

Anurag the writer fails while Anurag the director does well. Clearly, this film is technically superior to his prior film but Black Friday had a screenplay which people could understand. Was it really necessary in not going the conventional way towards the end rather than doing something which cannot be digested even if one were to take laxatives?

There are quite a few in-house jokes like Ranvir being named Abbas Tyrewala – Anurag’s friend and screenplay writer. In fact there was a line where Ranvir says “ Main Hoon Na Maqbool.” Main Hoon Na and Maqbool were both written by Abbas.
John Abraham is getting better by the day and this is one of his better roles. He is the star of the show and John is definitely headed towards the top. Ayesha Takia does a fair job though the role did not require any histrionics. She seems to be a miscast and looks like John’s younger sister rather than his wife. Paresh Rawal is the rock star. It’s really difficult to imagine another actor enacting the part with such conviction. Ranvir is good but the best of him probably comes out through comedy.

There was enormous potential in this imaginative story line (which was first loosely seen in Darna Mana Hai ) but the filmmaker seemed to have track of ground reality towards the end. If smokers think that this is a remedy for you to quit smoking then think again. The social message is just not there. Fans of Anurag Kashyap will have to do some serious rethinking after watching this film.

Jab We Met Hindi Movie Online

Plot :

They may have split in real life but Kareena Kapoor [Images] and Shahid Kapur's [Images] reel love story Jab We Met [Images] is a cute film, and is sure to touch the hearts of those in love.

The film starts with Geet (Kareena), a Sikh who talks nonstop. She embarks on a train journey from Mumbai to her hometown Bhatinda. On the way, she runs into Aditya Kashyap (Shahid), a young man disillusioned with life after being dumped by his girlfriend. To make matters worse, even his business is going nowhere.

He's on the verge of ending his life when Geet comes into his life. She ends up missing her train while trying to get him on the train.

The thought does cross your mind, that why would she do that for a stranger. But then again, we're watching a Bollywood film.

Geet then informs Aditya that it is his responsibility to take her to Bhatinda, as she missed the train because of him. What follows next is a journey across picturesque landscapes where the two discover each other and understand the meaning of love and friendship.

Aditya learns that Geet is in love with one Anshuman but her family is against their union.

After reaching Bhatinda, you feel the plot has been lifted straight out of the Hollywood film, A Walk in the Clouds, though director Imtiaz Ali also adds Yash Chopra's [Images] 'Punjabisation'.

Aditya promises to help unite Geet with Anshuman, even though he falls in love with her.

Post-interval, we're introduced to a very new Aditya, who becomes a big businessman. And this is one of the film's flaws. The change is too abrupt, and it is difficult to connect the first half with the second.

But besides that, Jab We Met is a fun film, with quite a few moments worth watching.

Though Kareena is loud at times, she is a treat to watch -- funny and full of life. She gets to mouth hilarious lines like, 'Bachpan se mujhe shaadi karne ka bahut shauk tha.'

Shahid, on other hand, acts composed and provides a perfect foil to the Kareena's bubbly character.

Pritam's music also enhances the film. Lyricist Irshad Kamil deserves a special mention for the song, Yeh Ishq Hai.

Woodstock Villa Hindi Movie Online

Directed by Hansal Mehta, the plot takes different turns and twists till the end. The story starts when a businessman's wife is kidnapped for ransom. As the true nature of what is at stake for the captor as well as the victim unfolds, Woodstock Villa transforms from a suspense mystery into a chilling thriller.

Click here to download Woodstock Villa goodies!

The story shifts to Sikandar Kher's Sameer. The young lad, who leads a flashy lifestyle, needs money desperately. To add to his troubles, his landlord (Shakti Kapoor) is constantly on his tail for rent while Karimbhai (Gulshan Grover) demands his loan back. Samer needs money badly but he refuses to work for it.

One day, Sameer meets Zara (Neha Uberoi) at a nightclub. A few days later, she lands up at his home with a plan to test whether her husband really loves her. She asks Sameer to kidnap her. The money tempts him into saying yes. They reach Woodstock Villa. He makes the ransom call to her husband Mr Kampani (Arbaaz Khan ). And then comes the twist.

Unlike any other thriller, Woodstock Villa has no pleading eyes, tears or bound wrists. The film unfolds as a web of deceit and lies.

Woodstock Villa breaks the cliched murder mystery with every twist, and keeps you on the edge of the seat.

Singers Aryans make a fun entry with their song, Kyun. This 'item number' is picturised on Sanjay Dutt , who is seen in a guest appearance. All the songs in the film are very good.

Sikandar has done fairly well in his debut film. He suits the image of a playboy, who constantly gets into trouble. Though the film has few dialogues, Sikander says his lines well. Certain scenes expose his amatuerish acting but the script -- with its many twists -- makes you overlook it.

Hastey Hastey Hindi Movie Online

The reason why a majority of films go unnoticed is courtesy the weak storyline first. The other factors come later. Hastey-Hastey - Follow Your Heart also suffers for this reason. The story idea, credited to one Rohit Batra, is so tacky, so banal, so obsolete, so lifeless that you break into a big yawn 10 minutes into the film. Seriously, you actually pinch yourself. Are you watching a film produced in 2008? Clearly, the writer is the villain here.

Let's look at the plusses first. The first-time producers have left no stone unturned to give the film an upscale look. Sure, a number of films have been filmed in the U.S., but very few have done justice to the panoramic locales that U.S. has to offer. Also, Anu Malik's music is quite catchy. You hum a few lines when the songs unfold on screen.

Plus, there's Rajpal Yadav in a triple role. Fine, the jokes are corny, but you cannot help but break into a laugh at times.

But the problem is that the writer messes things up completely. And the writers [screenplay: Gavender Agrawal and Ritesh Pandey; scenario, dialogues: Bholu Khan] don't do much to salvage the situation. The screenplay is as listless as the concept. Sad, a good opportunity is lost!

Neel [Jimmy Sheirgill], a student at Columbia University, is in love with Maya [Nisha Rawal]. Sunny [Rajpal Yadav] is Neel's room-mate and also his buddy. Neel accepts a career opportunity that requires him to go to India to set up a call centre business. Much against Maya's wishes, Neel travels to India with Sunny.

Grace is Gone English Movie Online

Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 1 hr 32 mins
Theatrical Release: 2007

Synopsis:

Though 2007 saw a flood of Iraq-related films, GRACE IS GONE takes a different approach from many of the others. Unlike REDACTED and LIONS FOR LAMBS, this directorial debut from screenwriter James C. Strouse (LONESOME JIM) doesn't focus on the conflict itself. Instead, the drama looks at how the death of a female soldier affects her family at home. John Cusack (1408) is Stanley Phillips, a husband and father who waits while his wife Grace is off serving in Iraq. When he learns of her death, he can't bear to tell his two daughters the news. To postpone the inevitable, the normally staid father proposes a spontaneous road trip to his girls, and the three set off for the fun of an amusement park called Enchanted Gardens. GRACE IS GONE picked up a pair of awards at Sundance: the Audience Award and Best Screenplay. It's a deeply affecting drama that never resorts to manipulation in achieving its aims. Instead, it relies on the strong script from Strouse, as well as a trio of fantastic performances. As Stanley and Grace's young daughters, Gracie Bednarczyk and Shélan O'Keefe make memorable film debuts. Their relationships with both each other and their cinematic father feel completely genuine. As for Cusack, he trades in the swagger of Lloyd Dobler and Rob Gordon for Stanley Phillips's shuffle. The role is a complete departure for the veteran actor, and the change is a welcome one that should win him both critical praise and awards. The film's tone is sweet and sad, though never overwhelmingly so, and it's helped by excellent cinematography from Jean-Louis Bompoint and a quietly moving score from Clint Eastwood.

Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins English Movie Online

Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 1 hr 54 mins
Theatrical Release: Feb 8, 2008 Wide

Synopsis:

Actor-comedian Martin Lawrence (BAD BOYS, BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE) aims for the heartstrings and funny bones in WELCOME HOME ROSCOE JENKINS, a raucous helping of family soul food. Lawrence plays R.J. Stevens (in truth, Roscoe Steven Jenkins), a Hollywood self-help sensation whose fame has netted him a reality television star fiancée (Joy Bryant) while simultaneously alienating his young son. Having been away from his family for nine years, prodigal son R.J. returns to Georgia to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of his parents (James Earl Jones and Margaret Avery). Upon his arrival, R.J. is given a rude awakening by his none-too-impressed siblings (Mike Epps, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Mo'Nique). R.J. must also contend with his ultra-competitive cousin Clyde (Cedric the Entertainer), the family's presumptive "golden boy" and a long-time rival who stole the affections of R.J.'s childhood sweetheart, Lucinda (Nicole Ari Parker). As the celebration weekend rolls on, R.J.'s craving for his father's respect and an inflated sense of self threaten family harmony and his opportunity to reconnect with Lucinda, and--worst of all--his relationship with his own son. Lawrence makes Roscoe a genuinely sympathetic foil to the comedic antics of Mo'Nique and Epps, both of whom are given room to riff by director Malcom D. Lee (UNDERCOVER BROTHER, ROLL BOUNCE). Frequently bawdy but thoroughly entertaining, WELCOME HOME ROSCOE JENKINS is also a warmhearted reminder that you are where you come from, and that when searching for yourself no one can put you straight better than a loving family.

No Country for Old Men English Movie Online

Rated: R
Runtime: 2 hrs 2 mins
Theatrical Release: Nov 21, 2007 Wide

Synopsis:

With NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, the Coen Brothers have found a perfect match in Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy. Their adaptation of McCarthy's praised novel is a staggering masterpiece. In this almost impossibly faithful adaptation, the film takes place in a small Texas border town in 1980. Sheriff Bell (a never-been-better Tommy Lee Jones) has ruled the land for years without the use of a gun, but a new brand of reckless lawlessness has taken over his town. Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) is an innocent Everyman with a devoted wife, Carla Jean (Kelly Macdonald), but when he stumbles across a drug deal gone deadly and finds two million dollars, he's determined to keep it for himself. There's only one problem. He's being pursued by one of the most amoral, evil psychopaths that the big screen has ever seen. Wearing an absurd haircut and brandishing a pressurized weapon that's used to murder cattle, Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) creeps forward on his mission to track Moss down and return the money to its rightful owners to save his own skin. As the tension mounts, the body count begins to rise, confirming Sheriff Bell's inability to battle this new wave of modern brutality. The most striking thing about the Coen Brothers' thriller is their masterly use of silence to create an almost unbearable level of tension. Cinematographer Roger Deakins is once again at the top of his game, beautifully capturing this stark and lonely world. The well-rounded cast is clearly excited to be a part of such a stellar production--particularly Bardem, whose Chigurh is a freakishly mysterious monster, and is certain to haunt viewers long after the final credit has rolled. In a career filled with striking achievements, this might very well be the Coen Brothers' finest. It is filmmaking at its best.

Rocky Balboa English Movie Online

Rated: PG [See Full Rating]
Runtime: 1 hr 42 mins
Theatrical Release: Dec 20, 2006 Wide

Synopsis:

ROCKY BALBOA, the sixth installment of the long-running film franchise, should amount to nothing more than a lame punch line to a TONIGHT SHOW monologue joke. However, just as his longtime corner man Paulie describes the Italian Stallion himself, this movie is all heart. Thirty years after Sylvester Stallone first introduced the underdog backroom brawler from Philadelphia in the Oscar-winning ROCKY, Rocky Balboa returns for one last dance. Speculation as to whether Balboa, in his prime, would have been able to defeat lackluster champ Mason "The Line" Dixon spurs Dixon's management to set up an exhibition fight between the two. That Balboa is in his 50s in the film and wouldn't be sanctioned to fight anyone, let alone a man 30 years his junior and in the prime of life, must be left up to the viewer's ability to suspend disbelief. To its credit, however, the movie addresses at every turn the insanity of a man approaching 60 getting back into a boxing ring, and Balboa's impassioned explanation of his motivations is just believable enough to give all other improbabilities a free pass. Though it may sound like faint praise, this is the best ROCKY movie since the original. It's very much a love letter to Philadelphia, and Stallone, who wrote and directed the movie, shoots everything with an unflinching eye that humanizes the mean streets of the City of Brotherly Love and evokes the gritty dignity of the original film. And while Burt Young's cantankerous Paulie and Tony Burton's Duke both return, Talia Shire, sadly, does not reprise her role as the beloved Adrian. It's revealed early in the film that Adrian has died of cancer, and it's the pain of that tragedy that ultimately fuels Rocky. Boxing as a metaphor for life is certainly nothing new, but Stallone makes a legitimate contribution to the tradition with ROCKY BALBOA. Life hits harder than any man can, and one's ability to keep getting up until the final bell rings is the true measure of self. Corny? Perhaps. But when Bill Conti's legendary score kicks in and Rocky starts pounding the heavy bag, the metaphor feels truly profound.

Juno English Movie Online

Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 1 hr 36 mins
Theatrical Release: Dec 5, 2007 Limited

Synopsis:

The word "quirky" has become the quick and easy way to describe films such as LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE and LARS AND THE REAL GIRL that straddle the lines between indie and studio films and comedy and drama. While JUNO fits into that same category, this distinctive dramedy is in a class all its own.... The word "quirky" has become the quick and easy way to describe films such as LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE and LARS AND THE REAL GIRL that straddle the lines between indie and studio films and comedy and drama. While JUNO fits into that same category, this distinctive dramedy is in a class all its own. Ellen Page (X-MEN: THE LAST STAND) stars as Juno, a witty teenage girl whose boredom doesn't lead her to the mall. Instead, she makes a one-time trip into the arms of her best friend Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera). When Juno discovers that she's pregnant, she's forced to grow up fast as she tries to find adoptive parents for her quickly growing child. JUNO might have a lot of strengths--Page's award-worthy performance, a pitch-perfect soundtrack, excellent direction from Jason Reitman--but it's the screenwriting debut of writer Cody Diablo that makes this such a winning film. Famous for her blog and her book CANDY GIRL: A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF AN UNLIKELY STRIPPER, Diablo has a unique voice and an incredible ear for dialogue. But even the nearly perfect script wouldn't sound so good if it weren't for the talents of these actors, particularly Page. She won raves for her first major role in HARD CANDY, but this performance proves it wasn't a fluke. The rest of the cast, especially J.K. Simmons as Juno's dad, is just as worthy of attention. JUNO continues Cera's cinematic ascent after his success with the hit comedy SUPERBAD, and his ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT costar Jason Bateman uses his dry delivery to great effect as a potential parent for Juno's baby. Songs from Kimya Dawson perfectly capture the film's tone with the music's sweet, smart, and funny sounds.
