Vambuchanda Tamil Movie Online

Director Rajkapoor has made it pretty clear that he is not intended to make any effort to make the movie with substance. Though he has shown his ability to execute scenes that are worth to be parts of a masala flick, he hasn’t taken any strain to make it credible.

The first scene shows a co-education collage campus (one wonders why no filmmaker dares to make a film around men’s or women’s collage), in which boys flirt with girls in obnoxious manner. The scene informs you that you could not expect any finesse in the film. It moves on to introduce Prabhakaran (Uday Kiran), son of psychiatrist Nehru and Lakshmi, beating up the thugs. Then comes the introduction of the heroine (Diya), sister of Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravichandrtan (Rajkapoor), which is followed by the inevitable love between the two.

The revelation of the real identity of Prabhakaran comes as a relief after the tiring first hour, which is filled with meaningless fights and absurd romance. The crux of the movie is that Nehru and Lakshmi (Livingston and Sabitha Anand) are not the real parents of the hero. He is the son of an ex election officer Jeevanandam (Sathyaraj), who has become mentally ill after a turmoil in his life. The son is determined to redeem his father’s life at any cost. He gets him to Kerala for Ayurvedic treatment.

Ex minister Dharmalingam (Fepsi Vijayan), who made the election officer’s life miserable, has also become mentally ill because of the defeat caused by the officer. His son Narayanan (Riaz Khan) gets him to the same place for treatment, where he finds that the officer is still alive. He decides to take revenge by killing Jeevanandam and the rest of the story shows how Uday saves his father.

Rajkapoor should be commended for his neat execution of the flash back episode that shows the electioneering. The movie would have been a refreshing entertainer had the director extended such an effort to the entire movie. Unfortunately, he prefers clichés and illogical sequences to move the story and hence fails to impress the audience. As a result the movie as a whole leaves much to be desired.

Sathyaraj as an election officer is more likable than Sathyaraj as mentally ill person. He adds credibility to the role, which he handles with amazing ease. The decision to take up a role suitable to his age too is commendable. Chitra Bhama as his wife is competent.

Uday Kiran, who made his debut in Tamil with K. Balachander's `Poi,' has shown that he could handle romantic and fighting scenes like any other young heroes. But he has got a lot to go when it comes to emote.

Diya has been entrusted with the sole responsibility of providing glamour to the fare. She tries to sizzle in almost all the scenes she appears and manages to succeed in a few scenes. If she wants to build up her career, she must look for the roles that demand more than skin show.

Riaz Khan as a powerful villain is flawless, while Livingston and others are impressive. Vijayan as a politician with vengeance is remarkable. Ramesh Kanna provides some relief to the predictable proceedings.

Imman's music is just about okay but the picturisation of a couple of songs in the first half is good. Suresh Devan has done a neat work with his camera.

It is disturbing to hear the way the word ‘mental’ is used by many in the film. It is quite insensitive, to say the least. Filmmakers should take extra care to ensure sensitive portrayal of persons with any kind of disability and those who are marginalized. Likewise, the way sari is made as a symbol of shame too is objectionable. Gender sensitivity is another area in which Tamil cinema needs to learn a lot.

Overall, 'Vambuchanda' has come out as a routine masala flick. But for the neat l.

Kerala Police Malayalam Movie Online

Kalabhavan Mani has after a long time got a film that could prove to be a hit. In Kerala Police director Chandrashekharan has managed to elicit from Mani a performance that suits his acting capabilities, while making the film watchable on the whole. The film is not extraordinary in any sense, but it is much better than most of Kalabhavan Mani films of recent times.

Kerala Police tells the story of an honest and upright police officer named Satyanathan, who is ridiculed and sidelined by his own colleagues in the police force, just because he comes from a backward class in the society. Even Mukunda Verma, who is just another Circle Inspector like Satyanathan, doesn't spare any occasion to make insulting remarks. However, Satyanathan has an ally in Philip Tharakan, the kindly Superintendent of Police.

In the meantime the dead body of freelance photographer Vimal Roy is found in a tile factory. Though others in the police force want to dismiss it as a suicide, Satyanathan believes that it is a case of homicide takes it upon himself to go into the depths of the case. His investigations lead him to film actress Sanjana, whom he questions as part of the investigation. As the story unfurls he learns that Sanjana was Leelamma earlier and used to live in Goa. She had known Vimal Roy. Sanjana, after relating her past, admits to killing Vimal Roy.

Satyanathan however, is not convinced and draws his own inferences. He believes that someone else was the killer. By then a lady officer from the CBI named Nandini, is brought in to investigate the case, and Satyanathan is again sidelined. Satyanathan goes on leave and carries on the investigation on a personal level, while Nandini does the investigation at the official level.

Kalabhavan Mani shines as Satyanathan, while Lakshmi Sharma puts in just an average performance as Sanjana. Bijukuttan, who plays the role of a constable named Balram, who assists Satyanathan, provides enough of comic relief. Swarnamallya cuts a sorry figure as Nandini and seems to be uncomfortable with the language itself. Innocent is a let-down as Philip Tharakan and falters in sequences where he has to deliver dialogues in English. Madhu Warrier is good as Kiran, an actor. Suraaj Venjaramoodu, who appears in a couple of scenes as a film producer, succeeds in doing what is expected of him, i.e., send the audience into fits of laughter. Baiju is his very usual self as Mukunda Verma.

The main highlight of the film is the script, which is far better when compared to usual Kalabhavan Mani-starrers. The scenarist as well as the director deserves to be appreciated for taking total control over the subject and also for having used Kalabhavan Mani with a complete understanding of his capabilities as well as his weak-points. Technical aspects are just average, and one feels that if the film had a bit more of pace it would have been a lot better.

But still the film is worth a watch and stands out as one of those rare Kalabhavan Mani-starrers sans the usual Kalabhavan Mani-rendered song, which has become redundantly boring these days. Just go and enjoy viewing this investigation drama, if you are in the mood of viewing a comparatively well-made Kalabhavan Mani-movie. But beware; don't even think of going to this movie if you expect something more out of a Kalabhavan Mani action flick.

Hancock English Movie Online

WHERE IS it written that superheroes have to be selfless? What would happen if an individual with supernatural powers was surly, self-absorbed and acid-tongued? Would he still be a hero? Would people still want him around?

Hancock, the new Will Smith vehicle, asks those smart questions, but after initial moments of success its answers get dumb and dumber. It’s a strange feeling to see the summer’s most promising premise self-destruct into something bizarre and unsatisfying, but that is the “Hancock” experience.

Probably no one but Smith, possibly the most likable actor in the world, could have breathed the right kind of life into this unusual character, first met sleeping off a monumental binge on a bench in Los Angeles.

Being hung over, we soon learn, is business as usual for Hancock, a superhero who hangs out in dive bars, drinks from the bottle and wears ragged clothes and a wool cap that has seen better days.

Yes, Hancock has all of Superman’s talents — he is ridiculously strong, invulnerable and able to to leap tall buildings in a single bound — but because he is often drunk and/or hung over when the call to action comes, he causes as much trouble as he prevents.

When Hancock stops a car full of gun-toting gangbangers, he destroys assorted vehicles and a freeway sign and defaces a local monument in the process. When he tosses a beached whale back into the ocean, he capsizes a boat. Hancock is clearly the guy the term “collateral damage” was invented for.

Worse than that, Hancock has a blistering tongue, something the film’s trailers have taken care to avoid revealing. That a film with dauntingly profane diatribes that would make a stevedore blush got a PG-13 rating, while the much sweeter “Election” was saddled with an R a few years back, will be catnip to those who think the MPAA ratings board (which reportedly twice gave “Hancock” an R before further cuts changed its mind) invariably gives away the store to major studio releases.

Things might have gone on like this forever for Hancock — who knows how long a superhero’s liver can hold out — if he hadn’t one day saved the life of a man named Ray Embrey (an agreeable Jason Bateman), whose car was trapped on railroad tracks with a train bearing down. Embrey turns out to be a good-natured public relations man who believes in making the world a better place and specializes in image consulting. Though his wife Mary (an initially underutilized Charlize Theron) takes a visceral dislike to Hancock, Embrey decides nothing will do but that he will help this reluctant superhero to clean up his act.

Some of this stuff, like training Hancock to ask politely before rescuing someone and to say “good job” even when people are not doing one, is amusing. But when Hancock agrees to go to jail for the damage he’s caused, the result is an anatomically challenging encounter with a pair of inmates that makes an even further mockery, if that’s possible, of the film’s puny rating.

As written by Vy Vincent Ngo and Vince Gilligan and directed by Peter Berg, “Hancock” up to this point takes misanthropic glee in its deconstruction of the conventions of superheroism. It’s abrasive as all get out, but Smith’s charisma and the cleverness of the concept keep us in the picture.

But then, just about without warning, “Hancock” makes a completely unexpected and head-shaking plot turn that derails the film in a way that it never recovers from. This second part of “Hancock” has the further disadvantage of coming up with its convoluted rules as it goes along, making it especially hard to understand what is happening to its characters or the reasons for its events.

Theron has more prominence as things progress, and, also out of nowhere, gives one of her strongest performances. But this part of the film also reveals a weakness for standard-issue violence and savagery that comes from a much more conventional place than the film’s initial concept.

The creators of “Hancock” truly had a tiger by the tail with their primary idea, and once they let go, the beast turned around and swallowed them whole. This is Hollywood, after all, a town without pity. Or, for that matter, anything resembling good common sense.

Kelvikkuri Tamil Movie Online

Jailaani who was working in Uk produced a movie in Tamil titled KELVIKURI. The story is about custodial deaths. Kelvikkuri has managed to get on the wrong side of the Censor Board, which has questioned the very premise of the film. The Board has refused to certify the film claiming that it portrays the police in a bad light. But the film’s director Jailani feels otherwise about it. “They are banning it for a reason that I think is unreasonable and that hurts all the more,” Jailani says. The Board’s examining committee, which includes a police officer, has objected to certain scenes in particular like when the hero takes the police commissioner hostage. “Immature minds are bound to get some inspiration and there is a likelihood of them taking the law into their hands,” Regional Officer, CBFC, Babu Ramaswami says. But this is not the first time when a hero has taken the law in his hands to save the day.

Singakutty Tamil Movie Online

Sivaji, the grandson of legendary Sivaji Ganesan, makes his debut as a hero in this film built around the usual police-terrorist game. Director A. Venkatesh, who is adept at making so-called masala flicks, could not do much to be different with "Singakutty". He has succeeded to an extent in projecting Sivaji as a hero material. And the debutant actor has lived up to the expectations despite the constraints imposed on him by the not so well-structured script and other deficiencies. He has made most of the opportunity to prove that acting is in his blood.

A happy-go-lucky youth (Sivaji) falls in love with the daughter (Gowri Munjal) of the owner (Avinash) of a unit making soft drinks in Madurai. The girl's father gives his nod for their marriage and when he conducts talks with Sivaji's mother (Saranya) to finalise the proposal, she lays down a condition that her boy should become a police officer before the marriage. The entrepreneur agrees to wait. When Sivaji completes his police training in Chennai and returns to Madurai, he is in for a shock. Danger stalks him. His mother, sister, and fiancée have been abducted by a terrorist who has a large network. His sinister plan is to get the new police officer sucked into the vortex.

If the police officer wishes to see his mother, sister and lover alive, he should plant a powerful bomb during a temple festival attended by hundreds of thousands of people. Who is the villain? Would the bomb go off? And, what is the fate of the hostages? These are the questions answered in the climax. The story is told in two parts; romance followed by action.

Sivaji, who is assigned the dangerous mission, enters the arena with the confidence of one who has gone through the mill. He makes his mark in both romance and action sequences. His reflexes are good. He pounces with amazing fury on the rowdies playing mischief with his lover (Gowri Munjal). To wreak vengeance on them, the very next day he raids a soda water factory and destroys it. In these scenes Sivaji is really terrific. He gives a stunning performance when he has to be at two places at the same time to rescue a family and the festival crowd. His role is action-oriented and there is not much scope for acting. As for his body language and expressions, he has to go a long way.

Gowri Munjal plays the heroine with finesse. In both romantic scenes and while being in trouble her expressions are striking. Her image of a glamour girl sticks.

Saranya has by now become a familiar 'screen mother" and she fits the role.

Anal Arasu plays the villain for the first time and gives a thumping performance.

Vivek as a fan of Malavika comes a cropper. His comedy is clichéd and fails to click.

Stunt scenes under the direction of Kanal Kannan and Anal Arasu prop up the film.

Malu dances to the 'kuthu' song 'Attama Therottama."

Prasanna Shekar's music is passable. Of the songs, "Enda Rakshasa" is outstanding.

R.D. Rajasekhar's camerawork and choreography by Brinda and Tharunkumari enhance the aesthetic quality.

The narration is on the fast-track in the flashback mode. The same tempo could not be sustained after the kidnap episode. The script is to blame.

"Singakutty" is nothing more than a launch pad for Sivaji. The title is apt as he is still a cub and has to grow up to be a roaring lion, like his grandfather, the Nadigar Thilagam.

Batman: Gotham Knight English Movie Online

Traditionally, I have never been a big Batman fan. Over the years, I've stood firmly on the Marvel side of the fence, but that doesn't blind me to the fact that Batman is the single most cinematic of the mainstream superhero brigade. He's dark, tormented, dresses in black, has the cool car, and -- despite essentially being just a guy who works out a lot -- can even occasionally kick Superman-butt. He's made for the screen, really.

Which is why it's shocking just how all the on-screen versions of him disappoint so sorely. Television's Biff-Pow-Splat series is ridiculously fun campy entertainment, but Holy Utility Belt, it turned Batman into an absolute joke. The movies all faltered in their individual way. Tim Burton went gloriously loony with his two films, but Michael Keaton never filled that cowl adequately enough. Also, Burton's Batman killed people, a move that shocked purists to the core. (Though I remain convinced that the only reason Batman never killed a guy in the comics was more due to the strict Comics Code Authority than any deep-rooted moral code. But that's just me.)

Val Kilmer was an interesting Batman, but while he moved forward as Batman in Forever, the rest of the film -- Jim Carrey as The Riddler, for example -- regressed into TV show ridiculousness. George Clooney's [Images] Bat attempt was an ill-fated disaster, producing the one Uma Thurman [Images] movie that is impossible to sit through. And then there was Christopher Nolan's Begins, where, much as I like Christian Bale, his Batman seemed exaggerated and while the director pandered to the fanboys, it doesn't really impress as a film. I have been accused of being far too critical in my review for that one, but it's merely because I have far greater expectations, from the Prestige maker -- and, from Batman.

Now, days before Nolan raises the curtains on the undeniably, lipsmackingly promising The Dark Knight, we have finally hit paydirt.

Batman: Gotham Knight is the single greatest screen version of any Batman ever, and it's simply marvellous.

Sculpted in anime and timed to release a couple of weeks before the big movie itself -- remember when Warner Brothers did the same with that fantastic The Animatrix to go with those godawful Matrix sequels? -- this is a stunning blend of East-meets-America, a rocking mix of surreality and style, of traditional Bob Kane silhouettes and a totally fresh pair of eyes. Six directors; six Batman short films; six ways to talk about the Batman; six radically different styles. The characters speak in American accents, but this isn't a US cartoon at all. Nor is it another anime. Ladies and gents, this is Batmanime.

And it will blow you away.

It starts with perception. It's all very well to believe in the Bat-Signal, to say that the people of Gotham City implicitly trust in the man in black -- unlike those fickle Spidey-hating New Yorkers -- but he is a man dressed like a bat, goshdarnit, operating almost exclusively in the shadows. There will be doubt, to say the least. And so Gotham Knight kicks off by exploring how we look at Batman, what we think of him, and how basic descriptions we don't think twice about in superheroland -- 'disappeared into the shadows and reemerged from the darkness' -- can take on greatly kinetic vividity in the visual form. Wow.

So kids, skeptical cops, and even Commish Gordon, spend the first three shorts thinking about Batman. And the joke is on them, because -- as readers, audiences, fans -- we know Batman, and that he can't fly or teleport. But it's fascinating to see their bewilderment, their cynicism, their faith. Fresh pairs of eyes, all the way.

And then, as we enter the third segment, Field Test, we meet a bushy-tailed Bruce Wayne trying out a gadget that could make his batsuit nearly-invulnerable to bullets -- except it isn't the safest thing for bystanders. We get our first glimpse of the workings of Bruce's brain, and even share a precious smirk with him as he ruins a drive. And Kevin Conroy, who's been great as Batman's voice in the wonderfully edgy Batman Animated Series, is flawless here too -- cold apathy with just a touch of nuance. Nice.

The only supervillain to really show up in these shorts is Deadshot -- while The Scarecrow has a fleeting appearance. Which is a tremendously interesting fact considering that we always invariably focus so much more on Batman's super rogues gallery instead of the Bat himself. And these films, while completely off-the-wall different in terms of style, form and storytelling, are all about Bats. And we needed this.

And Batman needed the vulnerability. In a chapter called Working Through Pain, we see a wounded Wayne struggle through a dark shaft while flashbacking to early pain-management lessons learned on the banks of the Ganges [Images]. While Parminder Nagra [Images] voices the visibly Indian woman who trains him, she is perplexingly named Cassandra. She is an interesting character, though, and tutors him after the fakirs turn him down. 'They say you are not looking for enlightenment or truth,' says Wayne's guide, nudging us toward Bruce's ever-seething need for revenge.

And with perfect timing, after all the character development and introspection, we have the last chapter, Deadshot -- a no-holds-barred Batman actioner. Picking up on a haul of guns, Wayne admits he'd never use one, before lyrically going on to appreciate the heft and the possibilities. Deadshot, the modern, DC comics equivalent of The Man With The Golden Gun, is visually great to play with, and the animators go wild following bullet -- and batarang -- trajectories.

Holy Batcave, that cape hasn't looked this striking in ages. Batman: Gotham Knight is as staggeringly beautiful a work of art as it is a well-rounded view of the iconic detective hero. Directors Shojiro Nishimi, Futoshi Higashide, Hiroshi Morioka, Yasuhiro Aoki, Toshiyuki Kubooka and Jang-Sik Nam deserve a major round of applause -- while credit must be split with hardcore comic writers Brian Azzarello, Josh Olson, David Goer, Greg Rucka, Jordan Camera Goldberg and Alan Burnett. It's a fantastic set of team-ups, marriages made in... well, Wayne Manor.

Sure, Batman's always been the 'cool' one, but hot damn it's been a while since his entry-shots gave us goosepimples. And this one did it for me, thrice. And coming from a Bat-indifferent Spider-Fan, that's as high as praise gets.

You a Batfan who liked Clooney's version better? Want to go on complaining about the Batman Begins review? Or just have a favourite Batman joke? Write in to me about all things superhero or cinematic at senterfold@rediffmail.com. Seeya next week, folks.

Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control English Movie Online

Being a fan of the original TV show, I recently saw 2008's Get Smart remake at the theaters and quite frankly it was everything I hoped it was going to be. The cast was superb and the spirit of the original series was certainly in there. The bottom line is if you were a fan of the original then check it out; you'll be glad you did. Then again this review isn't for Get Smart; it's for a direct to DVD spin-off featuring two characters from the film.

Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd: Out of Control is an interesting release when you get right down to it. Typical when you see a spin-off you're looking at a year or so down the line as a way to capitalize on a larger audience that has already seen the film. With Out of Control being released concurrently with Get Smart the amount of interested parties is undoubtedly smaller. You need to have seen the movie in order to be even remotely intrigued by Bruce and Lloyd's exploits. Needless to say it's a decidedly bold move on the part of Warner to release this when they did. I'm not entirely sure that fortune favors the bold in this instance because as nicely marketed as this release is it's certainly flawed. The biggest problem here is that Out of Control has very little to offer that is even remotely familiar to its theatrical counterpart. Or as Maxwell Smart would say, "Missed it by that much!"

Rather than tell a tale about Bruce (Masi Oka) and Lloyd (Nate Torrence) at a different point in the franchise Out of Control is supposed to be a side story about what happens to the lab nerds while Agents 86 and 99 are out on assignment. This adventure is completely separate despite a couple of instances where the stories intersect so don't expect to see Max, 23, or many of the other main players (Anne Hathaway does have a brief appearance but that bit feels shoehorned in). What you do get from this feature is a mildly entertaining diversion that has a few moments of brilliance scattered throughout a weak script with failed jokes and wasted potential. It's not all bad but I dare say that if you're expecting a level of quality close to or on par with the actual Get Smart film you're going to be greatly disappointed.

Out of Control begins with Bruce and Lloyd testing out an invisibility cloak known as the OCT (Optical Camouflage Technology). Agent 91 (Terry Crews) is the guinea pig in a paintball practice match between Control and the CIA. Considering the gadget gurus haven't perfected the battery time 91 soon finds himself in a bit of an embarrassing situation and this moment only serves as a catalyst for a rivalry between the two government groups. The CIA wants to steal the cloak and Control wants to perfect it and protect it; a task that Bruce and Lloyd simply aren't up to.

For being such geniuses Bruce and Lloyd are quite inept when it comes to other areas of life. They throw a party at control to celebrate their success at coming up with a greater energy source for the cloak but during it a beautiful South American agent sneaks in and steals the weapon. The rest of Out of Control follows the dynamic duo as they attempt to track down their technology and best the CIA in the process. The events that follow feel forced and haphazard at times but in between it all the film's main characters are charming enough to muddle through.

Bruce and Lloyd have a good amount of working chemistry and you really get the sense that they have been friends for some time. It's the little interactions between them that make up the good moments here. When Bruce goes after a girl named Nina (Jayma Mays) who reeks of death due to her position at Control, Lloyd invents a perfume that kills the stench and allows his buddy to get to know her. Likewise watching Bruce dole out nuggets of wisdom about women and life to his buddy is equally amusing because neither really has a clue. (On a side note, fans of Heroes will appreciate seeing Jayma and Masi on screen together again)

Beyond the interactions between its main characters Out of Control simply fumbles the ball while trying to piece a feature around the two. The quest for the OCT becomes more ridiculous as it goes on and there are simply too many diversions in between. It all feels like a collection of ideas loosely tied together with string and there is very little here that makes it part of the Get Smart universe beyond the phone booth and names Control and Kaos.

If the creators of Out of Control spent more time exploring the origins of Bruce and Lloyd and created more of a script around them then this film would have been much better. As it stands it feels like a collection of rejected ideas and gags stuck together with some adhesive. Some of these elements are genuinely funny but between these moments there are a lot of deadpanned gimmicks and very little actual storytelling. Fans of the Get Smart film may get some mileage of it with a rental but if you're looking for a release with legs to stand on then you're going to want to look elsewhere.

Innathe Chinthavishayam Malayalam Movie Online

Mohanlal has a super Hit, finally. After a strange procession of blockbuster flops,”Innathe Chintavishayam” might just save the year for the actor. But sadly this has very little to do with Mohanlal. “Udayananu Tharam” atleast had Mohanlal’s understated performance which didn’t jutt out, but if anything is out of place in “Innathe Chintavishayam” - it is Mohanlal. That doesn’t ruin the movie by the way. A good movie provided you dont come out and say its a cliched subject or there is nothing new in offer. Its summer guys, have fun!

Story: Sathyan Anthikad has a mediocre family entertainer which revolves around four families and Mohanlal. As Mohanlal’s character says, what is special about human beings is there relationships (which are priceless, for everything else there is Antony Perumbavoor) and seems God has sent him here to intervene when relationships sour. Each of the four families have one example of women being stepped on - an unfaithful husband (Mukesh)in one, a possesive husband (Vijayaraghavan),a muslim husband who wouldn’t let his wife have a career and a family who wouldn’t let their daughter go to college. Relevant issues that they are, and hence the title “Innathe Chintavishayam”. Now Mohanlal, Meera Jasmine and Innocent set out to bring these broken families together (by hook, crook, love, sentiments etc). Thats pretty much the story. There is no suspense.

Good:

1. Convincing performances: No remarkable characters but seasoned humour from actors like Sukanya, Innocent and Mukesh makes the movie lively. Finally Meera Jasmine has some respite from her “Damsel in Distress” props, and is a relief to watch. (except for her costumes! yeah costumes)

2. Entertainer: Its a “word of the mouth” movie and a clear family entertainer. Even while you see through it, the movie doesn’t bore you except for one song (where Mohanlal tries to play a ten year old).

Bad:

1. Mohanlal: Our man should do a High school teacher now. In the first half you wonder where Lal is, and in the second half he teaches us loving, appreciating bio-diversity, mending broken relationships etc without leaving the frame. The same tired dialogue delivery from the actor who won the best actor award again last week. It is not that Lal is a bad actor, but it is time Lal defines where he belongs. In this movie, rest all are characters and Mohanlal tries to play God.

2. Lack of refinement: Subtlety goes to the dogs in the script. Item public may like it, but things which should be explained in the narrative through scenes are instead packaged in on the face moral dialogues. Like say “family is very important” - hell we all know that, now go show it in the movie. The movie deals with relevant issues but imagine “Sandesham” with a super star as an add on who comes in every two minutes and gives a moral (or two if you are lucky). and Mohanlal should stop playing this High school know-all teacher.

Verdict: Watchable movie with some placed humour (like “Randu panna chaya” :)).Very predictable like all Anthikad films, but Mohanlal’s and Sathyan’s initial pull plus the story line will most probably give a Hit this time. Neither a remarkable movie nor one that deserves an apology - strict middle path formula movie. Sathyan plays it safe and Mohanlal’s Ashirwad films will make some dough this time.

Romeo Malayalam Movie Online

Actor Dileep's "Romeo" in Malayalam is the first of Christmas films off the block. On paper, it had everything going for it, with a dream team backing it.

Written by Rafi Mecartin and directed by his former mentor Rajasenan, the film has everything that you expect from a Dileep starrer - slapstick comedy, good music et al. However, the soul that binds a film together is missing.

"Romeo" is the story of a male nurse Manu (Dileep) working in a big hospital. He is the son of struggling actor Ratheesh Kumar (Cochin Haneefa) and a former singer played by Mallika Sukumaran, who is now judging a musical reality show on the TV. Comic situations in the film introduce the audience to all the characters.

The comedy continues, with Manu going crazy about Leena (Samvrutha), a contestant on his mother's TV show. She is the daughter of local thug Avarachan (Bheeman Raghu). Manu is so fascinated with her that he forces everyone around him to SMS for her so that that she can win the competition.

While Manu is busy wooing Leena, Priya (Vimala), who works in the same hospital, takes a fancy to Manu.

Before Priya can confess her love, Bhama (newcomer Shruthy Lakshmi), a Tamil Brahamin, enters the same to complete a trio wooing Manu.

The screenplay becomes so dense by interval that the rest of the film is devoted to loosening the tangled web. It becomes clichéd with stock characters making an appearance until the free-for-all climax.

The second half is such a disappointment after the good build-up in the first half that it leaves us jaded and numb in the head.

Dileep works hard to make good use of whatever material he has got in hand. He starts the proceedings in full flow, but slides down to mediocrity by the end. Even the screen time he gets is negligible.

Of the three females, Samvrutha impresses with her screen presence as she has got a somewhat meaty part. Vimala is good in whatever little she has got to do. Shruthy disappoints because her role is not well etched out.

The comic brigade consisting of Cochin, Suraj Venjaranmoodu and others are good in supporting the main leads.

On the whole, "Romeo" is watchable, but it is disappointing if we start with high expectations from the A-class team behind it.

Adulthood English Movie Online

Noel Clarke is probably best known to the tv-watching public as Mickey Smith in the first two seasons of Doctor Who (and the closing episodes of the forthcoming season if the rumours are true) but his work away from that show has been just as striking, if utterly different.

In 2006 he wrote and appeared in the controversial film kidulthood, depicting the dramas among the street kids of an urban housing estate. It was gritty, uncompromising and while certainly not to everyone’s tastes, provided a bold statement about film-making and youth culture. This wasn’t shiny, snarky, mockney rebels having a ‘larf’ , it was a call-out to a generation often personified (rightly or wrongly) and marginalised as simply armed, hooded and dangerous.

The film may not have been able to compete against the avalanche of American imports and blockbusters, but it proved it had staying power - taking a considerable amount of money from a release that amounted to less than fifty screens across the country. Clarke, who starred in the film as well as writing it, rightly got kudos for the project and he clearly sees it as just as relative to his career as any dimensions in time and space. “If I went to a financier and said ‘I’m the guy from Doctor Who, make me the lead in your film…’, they’d laugh me out the door!” he tells me wryly. “ You won’t find any tabloid stuff, I don’t fall out of clubs, don’t have rock-star mates who get off jail countless times. I just try do my work.” It’s a solid worth ethic and one which helped lead to a sequel, adulthood - out this week - which catches up with Clarke’s character, Sam, who has just been released from prison after the fatal consequences of his actions at the end of the previous outing. Though still street-wise and savvy, Sam wants nothing to do revenge and retribution - in fact he actively puts the word out that he wants no trouble. For him, if he gets his wish, the cycle of tit-for-tat violence and defence of one’s ‘territory’ is over. As is often the case in life, though, one often doesn’t always get their wish and it soon becomes clear that old rivalries die hard. First Sam is threatened and then his mother. As the intimidation grows various key members of his childhood gang are pulled one way then the other by the various agendas on show. Is drug addict Lexi (ex-Eastenders Scarlett Alice Johnson ) a help or a hinderance? Is Sam’s brother being manipulated to take his own brother’s life? And how violent must Sam be to rid himself of violence in the long-term?

“ Hopefully its one of the better performances I’ve done,” he explains. “ I’d like to think the writing is relevant. It tries to deliver a moral message that you can walk away and break the cycle of violence. I feel kidaulthood portrayed what was actually happening. People arguably ignored what they were being told and nobody wanted to listen. We’re trying, with this latest film in particular, to show people that there are alternatives… I tried to give it my own style and I did that to the best of my ability and I can grow and improve with everything I do.”

It’s dangerous to take on too many roles, but with Clarke stepping into the director’s shoes - taking over from kidulthood’s Menhaj Huda - there’s an undeniable sense that he’s managed to juggle the writing/acting/directing duties with aplomb. This second slice of street-life should definitely satisfy those who appreciated Clarke’s first chapter and while there’s always a risk that its attitude and (sometimes) heavy urban-dialects/slang may not attract the wider audience already queuing for the more generic summer smash-hits, it is the sort of film which is liable to get very solid reviews for its style and message. It should be applauded for its impeach, gritty but ultimately hopeful tone.

Clarke is definitely a talent to watch and though Doctor Who may have got him a big audience (and some sly but not distracting cameos from colleagues in this film) adulthood is the most impressive entry to date on what is sure to be a growing resume.

305 English Movie Online

The 2006 blockbuster 300 was neither good nor bad enough to merit a parody. And yet 2008 brought us not just one but two movies poking fun at the legend of King Leonidas and the Spartan army. There's even a third parody that starts shooting at the end of the year. Attention, filmmakers: Spoofing a box office winner does not mean your movie will top the charts, too. 305 is a good example: An unlucky few (including myself) will see this painfully unfunny mockumentary in theaters before it goes straight to the DVD shelf (literally next week), where it belongs and will hopefully disappear after no one rents it.

305 is one of those movies that'll make you wonder how such a horrible piece of work even made it past the planning stages. The 5 in the title refers to the five main characters in the film, who are apparently the out-of-shape, inadequate Spartans assigned to guard a goat path. Har, har. One day, these five decide they want to leave the goat path to join King Leonidas in the war against the Persians. What could go wrong? Nobody cares about the goat path, right? Wrong. Leaving the goat path unguarded apparently allows the Persians to break through King Leonidas' army's defenses, ultimately leading to the deaths of all 300 Spartans. Whoops.

What's sadder than this half-baked premise is the repeated, feeble attempts the movie's script makes at humor. There's a character named Testicles, pronounced testiclee s (Brandon Tyra). Hyuck, hyuck. There's a four-eyed dweeb named Darryl (David Schultz) who blatantly tries to steal the personality of Dwight from The Office -- and fails miserably. The other three aren't worth mentioning, because there isn't anything noteworthy about their names or idiosyncrasies. Wooing Testicles is a hot chick named Aurillia (Heaven Peabody), some eye candy to distract you from the movie's idiotically drab humor.

I wanted to laugh at this movie, but I couldn't. Even if the directors were in the audience, I couldn't give them a pity giggle. It's really just depressing, because the movie and its actors try so hard. And as horrible as the script is, these actors, all amateurs, aren't going to go on a power trip and start improvising their own lines to make the movie better. You can't help but feel sorry for them.

Remember A Clockwork Orange? The painfulness of watching 305 brings back memories of that scene in Orange where Alex's eyes are forced open with metal prongs, and he sits through hours of watching horrible films -- as part of a program to cure him of evil. If someone remade Orange today, 305 would be the movie Alex has to watch over and over. Except to give this remake a new angle, Alex would be a horrible filmmaker rather than an evil criminal. And after watching 305 over and over again with his eyes pried open, he'd walk out a new man aspiring to make movies with more original, less stupid ideas.

We've got another 300 spoof coming our way in 2009 titled 301: The Legend of Awesomest Maximus Wallace Leonidas. Judging from the title alone, you can tell this is going to be another stinker. We can only pray that after the slew of negative reviews of Mee t the Spartans and 305 that someone will give 301 the axe... before it's too late.

Based upon Mark Millar’s explosive graphic novel series and helmed by stunning visualist director Timur Bekmambetov—creator of the most successful Russian film franchise in history, the Night Watch series—Wanted tells the tale of one apathetic nobody’s transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. In 2008, the world will be introduced to a hero for a new generation: Wesley Gibson. 25-year-old Wes (James McAvoy) was the most disaffected, cube-dwelling drone the planet had ever known. His boss chewed him out hourly, his girlfriend ignored him routinely and his life plodded on interminably. Everyone was certain this disengaged slacker would amount to nothing. There was little else for Wes to do but wile away the days and die in his slow, clock-punching rut. Until he met a woman named Fox (Angelina Jolie). After his estranged father is murdered, the deadly sexy Fox recruits Wes into the Fraternity, a secret society that trains Wes to avenge his dad’s death by unlocking his dormant powers. As she teaches him how to develop lightning-quick reflexes and phenomenal agility, Wes discovers this team lives by an ancient, unbreakable code: carry out the death orders given by fate itself. With wickedly brilliant tutors—including the Fraternity’s enigmatic leader, Sloan (Morgan Freeman)—Wes grows to enjoy all the strength he ever wanted. But, slowly, he begins to realize there is more to his dangerous associates than meets the eye. And as he wavers between newfound heroism and vengeance, Wes will come to learn what no one could ever teach him: he alone controls his destiny. --© Universal Pictures
