Krishna Telugu Movie Online

Krishna - Popcorn entertainment for Sankranti

Think Ravi Teja and you would think of an easy, feel-good film with ample doses of comedy and action. Krishna that released today is no exception. The combination of VV Vinayak and Ravi Teja was hyped quite a bit before the film’s release. While it is not extraordinary, Krishna delivers what it promises. The main highlight of the film is the situational comedy that Vinayak has so deftly woven into the main plot. Just when you begin to think the story is no different, come these really hilarious chunks which make for happy viewing.

As for the plot, it is the quintessential love story of a boy meets girl and villain playing the spoilsport. Though in this film, the story has few new twists that make the watching interesting. The story begins in Vijayawada, where Krishna (Ravi Teja) sees Sandhya (Trisha) at the Durga temple on Dassara day. Cupid does his job and our hero falls in love in the very first sight. Then Sandhya leaves for Hyderabad, as she studies there and our hero follows her like a love-struck pup. It is from here that the story slowly unfolds and the villains come into the picture.

Ravi Teja has done similar roles all his life and he plays the part of Krishna with equal ease. Then there is Trisha, who had done such films through out her career. So it’s a virtual cakewalk for her. Despite this, the credit goes to Vinayak for spinning a yarn that is interesting enough to keep the audience till the very end. He shows Vijayawada in a new light. The Krishna river is shown in full spate and the shots that he uses in Vijayawada are refreshing. For once, there are no heavy duty dialogues despite lots of action.

Another plus is the handsome villain Jekka (Mukul Dev), brother of Rahul Dev, a model and actor himself in Mumbai. He looks trendy as the bad boy who is after the heroine. Though we have Jayaprakash Reddy, his role too is toned down by comedy and so it is no where nearer to the loud villain that he usually plays.

Sunil, MS Narayana, Chandramohan and Brahmanandam are their usual best. Sayaji Shinde and Tanikella Bharani have small roles, but those which are well fleshed out.

But it is Vinayak, who comes out a winner, as he does not fall into the trap of trying to over do either comedy or action. It is the film in recent times that does not use graphics and unnecessary special effects during the action sequences. The special effects used are subtle and look realistic. Music is a bit disappointing, though the sets look grand.

So to have a final word, if you are looking for some light, fun-filled movie during the festival vacation, then Krishna is the film for you and family.

Cast: Ravi Teja, Trisha, Mukul Dev, Sayaji Shinde and others

CREDITS:

Producer: Danaiah

Music: Chakri

Mission Istanbul Hindi Movie Online

Movie: Mission Istanbul; Cast: Viveik Oberoi, Zayed Khan, Sriya Saran, Shweta Bhardwaj and Suneil Shetty (in special appearance); Director: Director: Apurva Lakhia; Rating *1/2

Take a bunch of muscle flexing actors, throw in a couple of brainless dumb bimbettes, choose a foreign location and stuff as much action as you can – and here you have, a serving of a typical Bollywood masala film.

Looks like director Apurva Lakhia had exactly this recipe in mind when he thought of making a disastrous movie like ‘Mission Istaanbul’. With an inferior look alike of ‘Hulk’ villain and a couple of flop heroes, Apurva Lakhia has set out on a search for a hit, which would definitely evade him.

Story of the movie is more than predictive and there is nothing new or exciting about it. Our good old hero is trapped in the villain trap who happen to run a terror network all around the world. And guess what, they have all their planning stored in one computer located on a 13th floor (yes, the unlucky number) office of a building. And hero has to catch hold of that computer and steal their important datas at any cost. That’s the only way of saving the world from their clutches. Phew!

And yes, you guess it right! Helping him in his missing ‘save earth’ comes our second hero. He has access to all the places, even inside the highly guarded den of the villain. But alas, only if he could reach that doomed 13th floor. All these years, he has been waiting for that one perfect hero material who would steal the datas for him.

Needless to say, together they defeat the entire bunch of hooligans who have supposedly shaken up the entire world with their terrorist activities. And helping them in the mission is one ‘clad in tighter than birthday jacket leather suit’ heroine of ours who keeps changing sides in the movie. And yes, she tries her level best to create that extra oomph, with little success.

Also, there is this journalist wife of our hero who keeps bumping into troubles one after another.

On the acting front, everyone except Viveik Oberoi has disappointed. Newcomer Nikitin Dheer has got a role of his lifetime but doesn’t show anything promising than his ‘extra pumped’ muscles. TV turned film actor Shabir Ahluwalia has also done a very non-impressive job.

The film has some very good action sequences and that’s the only aspect of it worth mentioning. Music is below average and so is script. Songs disturb the flow of the story and so does a special appearance by director’s old friend Abhishek Bachchan. Director has been successful in taking some very good shots though!

A complete no-no to watch!

In the Name of the King English Movie Online

Runtime: 2 hrs 7 mins
Theatrical Release: Jan 11, 2008 Wide

Synopsis:

Much like cult-favorites LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER and MORTAL KOMBAT, IN THE NAME OF THE KING: A DUNGEON SIEGE TALE is a fantasy-adventure based on a popular video game series, Dungeon Siege. The film follows the simple but heroic and fearless Farmer, portrayed by Jason Statham (THE TRANSPORTER, THE ITALIAN JOB), as he gets caught up in the brink-of-war tensions of King Konraid (Burt Reynolds), his back-stabbing nephew Duke Fallow (Matthew Lillard), and the evil wizard, Gallian (Ray Liotta). The film features similar plot-points to the critically acclaimed THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy (2001-2003), including a sinister beastly army parallel to LOTR's orcs of Mordor, called the Krugs, responsible for killing members of Farmer's family and kidnapping his wife, Solana (Claire Forlani). High- adventure follows, as Farmer, and his brother-in-law Bastian (Will Sanderson) and friend Norick (Ron Perlman) pursue the Krugs, which lead them to a vast underground lair of enslaved humans, orchestrated by Gallian, as he seeks to create and rule a hellish underworld with magic and mysticism. The film also includes John Rhys-Davis (THE LORD OF THE RINGS, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK) as Merick, a noble wizard, and the King's closest confidante and spiritual healer; and Leelee Sobieski (THE WICKER MAN) as Merick's daughter, who as the scorned lover of Gallian, has put the kingdom at great risk. Although some of the all-star cast seems a bit out of place in a sword-and-sorcerer epic, video game fans won't mind much as the majority of the two-hour film contains nonstop action and intriguing fantasy characters.

Lost Boys: The Tribe English Movie Online

After waiting enough years for Haim and Feldman to get old and do cameos only we have Lost Boys 2... and Serena from HorrorMovies.ca has posted the first review. In it she praises the film for its cinematic appeal and how it re-defines the vampire genre competely. I am dead serious, accept for all the parts about the movie being good. Here is a highlight from her review;

The Tribe (I refuse to call it The Lost Boys 2 again.) has the visual and cinematic quality of a youtube fan-based video. I have no idea why the filmmakers and film studio thought this was the film fanboys/girls had been waiting for for over two decades. The Tribe is chock-full of embarrassing references that will cause many head smacking “I can’t believe they went there” moments.

The audience is also treated to another slap in the face with a rock cover of “Cry Little Sister.” This cover would sound great in a bar done by a local band, but hearing it in a scene which is supposed to homage Star and Michael’s love scene from the original was again insulting. The film even messed up its own universe’s mythology. In this film, the vampires can not turn into bats, nor can they fly, and when they get killed, they turn into stone and then explode. (Yes, very lame indeed.)

Go give the entire review a read. We were supposed to have an interview with Corey Feldman but unfortunately at the last minute he backed out. Probably got a preview of Serena's review, knew we were friends and well.. you get the idea. Damn you Serena! I am a huge fan of Feldmans and you ruined my interview. :)

This sequel takes us to the shady surf city of Luna Bay, California, where vampires quickly dispatch anyone who crosses their path. Into this dark world arrive Chris Emerson (Hilgenbrink) and his younger sister, Nicole (Reeser). Having just lost their parents in a car accident, the siblings move in with their eccentric Aunt Jillian and become new prey for the locals’ way of life.

When Nicole unwittingly falls for a local vampire, Chris must locate and destroy the gang’s lifeline before his sister’s transformation is complete; to do this Chris finds himself relying on the expertise of none other than Edgar Frog (Feldman). Subtle references to characters from the original film, and cameos from returning actors offer homage to the Lost Boys legend and set a sinister tone of impending doom.

Hey Ram Tamil Movie Online

The movie begins at present day with Saketh Ram (Kamal Haasan), an 89-year-old South Indian Brahmin who is dying. The scene reverts back to the past as Saketh remembers the 1940's, when he and his good friend, Amjad Ali Khan (Shahrukh Khan) were archaeologists working together under their boss, Mortimer Wheeler, in Mohanjodaro (Indus River Valley Civilization) in Karachi. Relations are pleasant between the Indians and the English, and Saket and Amjad do not approve of the Partition and the creation of Pakistan. Aparna Sen, Saketh's simple Bengali wife is living in Calcutta in the midst of riots and chaos over the issue of the formation of Pakistan. Saket goes to Calcutta and is swept into the madness. In one instance, Saket saves an innocent Punjabi girl from the hands of a Muslim gang. The Muslims are angered and decide to take revenge; the group is headed by Aparna's tailor, Altaf, who break into Saket's home. They brutally rape and maliciously slit Rani's throat, and the scene, so vividly shot, leaves little for the imagination. This itself turns Saketh Ram maniacal and puts him on a wild killing spree, avenging his wife's disgrace and killing every possible Muslim in sight. On his apparent sortie he comes across a bunch of right-winged Hindu fundamentalists, led by Abhyankar (Atul Kulkarni). Abhyankar preaches him about the need of the Hindus to come together and save their brethren from the Islamists who according to them are mere intruders from across the Khyber.. He soon joins fanatical Hindus and loses sense of himself, falling victim to the chaos and religious hatred around him. He is also urged to marry again and agrees to it reluctantly. Mahatma Gandhi (Naseeruddin Shah) is solely blamed for the division of India and of the two religions. His wrath gets the better of him as he pledges to take revenge co-opted by the Hindutva Brigade and he travels from Calcutta to Madras to kill Mahatma Gandhi. There he meets his second wife (Vasundhara Das) , another light eyed beauty. Saketh Ram does not love her but only marries her under his father's (Kavignar Vaali) orders. Saket Ram is entrusted the task of killing Mahatma Gandhi, after his friend Abhyankar is left paralyzed in a freak accident. He has a change of heart only when he falls prey to a bunch of Muslims, where he also meets old chum Amjad Khan (Shah Rukh Khan), an ardent Gandhi admirer. At the climax, Saketh Ram is prepared to murder Mahatma Gandhi but is stopped by Amjad. He later realizes that without Gandhi, India would be destroyed. He goes up to Gandhi and begs for forgiveness but Gandhi says he has to go and that he has no time for his apologies. When Gandhi is about to leave, a young man approaches and kills Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi with a gun. The movie ends with the old Saketh Ram, slowly dying on his death bed.

Nijam Telugu Movie Online

Story

Reddy (Jayaprakash Reddy) is a powerful mafia leader whose right hand is Devudu aka Devadaya Sharma (Gopichand). Devudu has a lover called Malli (Raasi). Reddy - who also like Malli - takes her to the bed, which is not liked by Devudu. In the process, Devudu kills Reddy and he becomes the leader of the mafia gang.

Venkateswarlu (Ranganath) is a fire officer. In an incident, Devudu sets the market place afire and Venkateswarlu rescues it with his fire fighting and at the same time Venkateswarlu slaps Devudu, as he continues throwing kerosene at the market place. Devudu holds grudge against Venkateswarlu and sends him to jail on a framed charge of murder.

Seetaram (Mahesh Babu) who is the son of Venkateswarlu tries to rescue his father from the jaws of police. But in the process, everybody starts asking him for money to do the work. At the end of the day, the police officer kills Venkateswarlu.

The rest of the story is about how Seetaram's mother (Talluri Rajeswari) takes revenge on the people responsible for the death of her husband with the help of her son Seetaram.

Artists Performence

Mahesh Babu: Mahesh Babu has stolen the show with his extraordinary performance in this film. He surely deserves an award for his histrionics. The way he says 'abaddam' at police station before interval shows the kind of maturity Mahesh attained with this film. This film has given Mahesh Babu an opportunity to exhibit another dimension of his acting and he proved himself again that he is no more just a 'prince' and he is graduated to the level of 'king'.

Rakshita: She looks pretty ordinary and unglamorous in this film. This film has very little significance for the heroine, as it's not a love story. Rakshita did well with in her limitations.

Raasi: Raasi played the role of carrot eating temptress in this film. She looks absolutely fantastic, as she shed lots of weight in this film. She has more role to play in this film than the heroine Rakshita. All the people who like Raasi would love to see her in this get up.

Others: Talluri Rameswari has done a very good role that is pretty instrumental to the story. She did it with command and perfect poise. Gopichand had two get-ups in this film. He is good. Suman Setty got an interesting role for which he has done justice. Brahmaji did a major role in this film as a corrupt police officer. Prakash Raj entertained the crowds in his own style as the CBI officer. Vijaya Chandar did the role of police commissioner. His get up for the film is good. Shakeela played the role of married amazon who is in love with a neighbor.

Technical Departments:

Story: The basic story of the film is about how a soft natured guy becomes a hardcore serial killer due to the circumstances he faced. Certain part of this film reminds us of Shankar's Bharateeyudu.

Screenplay - Direction: Teja who has a firm grip on the pulses of mass made sure that he injected a few scenes that hit hard and make an impression on the mindset of viewers. However, Teja could not sustain the flow of narration in the second half. You could see a few Teja brand of applause-worthy scenes as well. Screenplay of the scenes before interval is very effective and it builds the tempo of the film gradually.

Dialogues: Some of the dialogues by Teja are very good. The best one among such dialogues is comparing Allah to Nijam. That scene has come out really well because of this logical dialogue. The voice over message by Teja at the end of the film is also good. Teja has the unique ability of questioning the systems and producers, which are blindly followed without looking at logic or reasoning. In this film too, he penned few dialogues of that sort.

Music: Background music by RP Patnaik is excellent. Songs are also good. But there is only one song - Neelo vunnadi nenegaa - that has good situational backup. The much talked about Rathalu song is missing in the film.

Cinematography: Photography by Sameer Reddy is good. The lighting effects in the second half complement the mood of the film.

Analysis:
The first half of the film is OK. The second half is sluggish at times and is weak compared to first half. The second half lacks entertainment value. It's strange to see that even Teja has resorted to separate comedy track in this film with Shakeela & Lakshmipati. The initial teasing by Rakshita crosses the limit of decency and family crowds are bound to get embarrassed. Over all, it's an average film that has chances to become hit because of the Teja's mass-attracting episodes and Mahesh Babu's brilliant portrayal of the character.

Chantigadu Telugu Movie Online

Story

Chantigadu (Baladitya) is a teenager who roams around in the village with his gang of friends (Rambabu, Pavan, Jagadish and Phani). He is the son of a widower (Saranya) who serves as a cook at Lord Rama's temple of that village. Seetamaha Lakshmi (Suhasini) is daughter of a landlord Reddappa (Ahuti Prasad). Reddappa is known as a very cruel guy.

Chantigadu and Suhasini pass their 10th class examinations. They join a college in a near by town and everyday they have to go to that town by a boat. Suhasini falls in love with Chantigadu and Chantigaru also likes her. But the temple priest in that village tells Chantigadu that whoever marries Seetamahalakshmi, that person's mother expires after marriage. Now Chantigadu decides that his mother's life is more important than his love for Seetamaha Lakshmi.

When Chantigadu is trying to avoid Seetamahalakshmi, fate decides otherwise. They are found in a lonely boat during one night and father of Seetamahalakshmi comes to know about it. The rest of the story is all about how the teen couple get acceptance from parents.

Artists Performance

Baladitya: The child artist who is popularly known to us as 'stamp gadu' (Edurinti Mogudu Pakkinti Pellam) made his debut as full fledged hero through this film. He is very spontaneous and extremely talented. He got good histrionic capabilities. He also has a fluid body that has lots of flexibilities for dances. Acting wise he is terrific. If he becomes more glamorous and puts on little bit of weight, he can make a place for himself in Tollywood.

Suhasini: Nellore girl Suhasini made her debut as an actress with this film. She is good looking and sports bubbly attitude. She looks great in half sarees. She tried her hand at seducing audiences with her oomph in 'lovely' song.

Others: Ahuti Prasad donned a full length villain role after a long gap. He followed the Nagur Babu's voice modulation in Kamal Hassan's 'Sati Leelavati' film. That added freshness to the characterization of villain. Saranya (the lady love of Kamal Hassan in Nayakudu film) did well as mother of hero. Rajiv Kanakala is good as a Psycho. Rambabu turned out to be a pretty good entertainer with this film. He would be an actor to look out for dialogue-based and appearance-based comedy in the mould of Suman Setty. This film sports lots of fresh faces.

Technical Departments:

Story: It's a typical story of love between rich and poor. The entire story is set in the backdrop of a village Sakhinetipally in Godavari district. Hence, you get to see lots of greenery and water in the locations of this film. The entire first half is dealt with tender love that develops between the rich girl and poor boy. Poor boy tries to stay away from rich girl when he comes to know that his mother would be in danger if he gets married to rich girl. When rich girl's father starts searching his missing daughter along with poor boy, he is faced with another enemy from with in. That is his son-in-law who threatens to ruin his daughter and finances. By the time, he sorts issues out with his son-in-law, he forgets the original rivalry with poor boy and accepts the alliance .

Screenplay - direction: Jaya - a journalist and storywriter - made her debut with 'Chantigadu'. For a debutant she has done a commendable job. She injected lots of freshness in the film by casting new faces, choosing new locations, trying out new music tunes. Her direction orientation is very sensible. Screenplay of the first half is very good. She handled the comedy scenes well. She also added divine angle to the love track of the film. She also made sure that there is no vulgarity in 'Chantigadu'. She is definitely a lady director to watch out!

Music: Music by Vandemataram Srinivas is very refreshing. Introduction song 'Kokkoroko' is very peppy. The best 'mood' song of film is 'Chigurakula'. Okkasari Pilichavante is very melodious. Love me song has Suhasini doing seduction dance.

Other departments: Photography by Puri is excellent. He has chosen very good locations. Dialogues by Marudhuri Raja are different and fresh. Production values of the film are decent.

Analysis: First half of the film is entertaining. Second half is OK. This film comes as a whiff of fresh air when we find every Telugu film that is releasing in recent times failing to appeal to the audiences. It's a good effort by BA Raju as producer and a successful debut by Jaya. Now its upto BA Raju - the media Moghul - to promote the film heavily to reach the entire spectrum of audiences and make it a good hit.

Aaduthu Paaduthu Telugu Movie Online

Story

Gopi (Srikanth) and Papi (Sunil) are wayward youth who lives in a bus that is converted into a mobile home. That bus is the only property that is inherited by Gopi from his father who was a popular drama artist. They plan to take loan from a bank and convert that bus into a mobile canteen.

They get Rs. 25,000/-, their first installment of loan from the bank. All of a sudden, a Banjara girl (Gayatri) enters their bus. They show sympathy towards her as she is innocent and does not even know how to speak Telugu. Papi, whose life ambition is to secure a visa to Dubai, arranges a job for this Banjara girl in Dubai through some agency in Hyderabad in return to some money and an assurance of a job for himself. Later on, it is revealed that the agency sells the girls to Dubai. Gopi goes to the agency and pays Rs. 25,000/- as the price and brings her back to his mobile home. Gopi and Banjara girl have feelings towards each other and they fall in love.

On fine day, Gopi and Papi discover that the Banjara girl carries a revolver. Then they investigate about her and find that her name is Gayatri and she is the daughter of CM (Chief Minister) of Tamil Nadu. When confronted, Gayatri reveals that she is fed up with politics of her father and flees away from home to enjoy the life of freedom.

Then she calls up her father and asks him to send Rs. 5 lakhs to the bank account of Gopi. She asks her father that favor in exchange of Gayatri going back to Chennai and marrying the bridegroom selected by her father.

Gayatri returns to Chennai. Gopi do not want to accept the bounty of Rs. 5 Lakh at the cost of freedom of Gayatri. He wants to return the money and free Gayatry from the clutches of her father. The rest of the story revolves around how Gopi along with three comedians create havoc in the marriage ceremony of Gayatry at Tamil Naidu CM's residence, before heading for a happy ending.

Artists:

Srikanth: Srikanth looks fresh in this film and he donned several roles like these in the past. But, he tries his best to be different.

Sunil: Sunil got equal footage along with Srikanth in this film as his sidekick. But somehow, Sunil appears to have become redundant because of over exposure and using the same punches in his dialogues.

Gayatri: She is just OK. Her role is a limited one.

Technical Departments:

Screenplay - Direction: The director seems to have adapted the screenplay of Tamil original as it is. Though the film is kitted with series of humorous incidents, the lack of grip on the script made the film boring at times. The direction of the film is average.

Dialogues: Dialogues in this film are good. Chintapally Ramana tried doing what he is best at. Writing comedy dialogues, that is! Again, the director failed to make those dialogues effective on the screen with bad timing.

Music: Music of the film is pretty average except for a situational song. Rerecording of the film is bad and at times, the music dominates the dialogues.

Analysis: It's a pretty average film that banks heavily on comedy. Comedy alone cannot save a film when there is no grip on the screenplay. Film is little boring, at times. The comedy in the film is very clean and mass oriented. This film might click well in B and C centers. You may watch this film in your home video. But it's not worth watching in a theater by sitting for two and half hours.

Would Siva break his wedlock to go to the girl whom he really loves?

Artists Performance

Sivaji: Sivaji has become the emerging comedy star these days. Instead of choosing the roles that have comedy shades, he preferred a serious character that dabbles with love in the first half and goes through family life in the second half. He did well. But we expect some comedy from Sivaji.

Meera Jasmine : Meera Jasmine looks average off the screen. But she has a quite charming screen presence that oozes the sensuality of Indian women. She performed well in the duel role and had shown variation in appearance and expressions.

Others: Ali, Chitram Seenu and Anil played the roles of Sivaji's buddies. Ali had major portion in the film in creating comedy. Brahmanandam did another comedy role. Rajan P Dev did a dignified character.

Technical Departments:

Story: This film is a remake of Tamil hit film 'Parthipan Kanavu'. The basic storyline is very interesting. It questions the basis of love - looks, levels of understanding, taste, compatibility and infatuation!

Screenplay - direction: Bala Sekharan who directed films like Priyamaina Neeku (hit) and Snehamante Idera (flop) returns to Telugu screen after a gap of 3 years. The direction of the film is average. The storyline of the film needs a good support in the form of screenplay to be narrated efficiently. But the screenplay of the film lacks pace and the much needed firmness.

Music: Music is definitely a plus point of the film. Music is melodious and soothing. The background music is also good. But one cannot stop complaining about 'inspiration' weakness of Srilekha, as she prefers copying popular tunes from other languages than scoring something on her own.

Other departments: Dialogues by V Vamsi are OK. The dialogues about relationships towards climax are worth commending. Camerawork is good. Production values are decent. Songs picturisation is neat.

Analysis: First half of the film is average. The pace goes down in the second half. But the climax and lead scenes to climax are good. The emotional graph of the film is flat till the scene where wife of hero goes to her parent's house. The narration of the film is flat. The only twist in the film is the interval point where hero realizes that there are two look alike girls. This movie would have been a disappointment if the climax were not good. This film is a clean film sans vulgarity and violence. People expect lots of comedy from Sivaji (especially after Missamma) as he has got good comedy timing. And his character does not have any strings of comedy attached to it, which is unfair.

The Wackness English Movie Online

Rated R for pervasive drug use, language and some sexuality.

With all the films detailing how painful it is to struggle with drug addiction, or the ones that integrate marijuana into a zany comedy, it was so refreshing to watch The Wackness. Instead of settling with over the top theatrics, it embraces these illegal substances, despite the consequences, as part of our culture. They are not the core of the laughs. The Wackness is a pleasant surprise for the summer independent circuit, not only for the humor, but the charm, and the fact that it is such a terrific throw back to the mid-90's.

It is the summer of 1994 in New York City. The temperatures are sizzling, the streets are pounding with hip-hop music, and the demand for pot is high. That is where high school student Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck) enters the picture. While new Mayor Rudolph Guliani is busy rounding up the streets of all wrongdoers, Luke continues to be a profitable drug dealer. He is seeing a therapist named Dr. Jeffrey Squires (Ben Kinglsey), who conveniently requests his payment via bags of grass instead of money. The two become friends, but in the meantime, Luke has developed a significant crush on Squires' stepdaughter Stephanie (Olivia Thirby). Luke is having a tough time. He feels depressed, he needs to get laid, and his parents argue constantly. Even though Dr. Squires is a lost soul himself, he tries to help Luke, and together they explore the city and dodge the bizarre hurdles of their lives.

Josh Peck resembles many teenagers I knew at one time in his depiction as Luke Shapiro. His distant expression and casual walk epitomizes that of a pothead. His business transactions take place out of an ice cream cart he wheels through the park. Because he is relatively innocent looking, this is the perfect cover. Despite his occupation, Luke is good natured person. He wants only to help his mother and father through their hardships, and no one can fault his wanting to get some nookie because we all have to start somewhere right? Peck gives an exceptional performance with heart and vigor. He is a name to watch closely in the future.

Forming an irreplaceable chemistry with Peck is Ben Kingsley, who turns in his best work in years. Kingsley has always been an odd actor. For every award winning portrayal like Gandhi, he will complete half a dozen mediocre ones. Lately, he has lived up to that "mixed bag" reputation after the putrid BloodRayne or The Love Guru, and the reasonably funny You Kill Me. Kingsley has not radiated such a comfortable aura as he does with Dr. Jeffrey Squires for a long time. Squires has a troubled marriage, and marijuana serves as an escape. His bond with Luke guides him through those dilemmas. Peck and Kingsley are a fantastically uproarious as a duo, and without that "spark", this film would never have been so effective.

Supporting efforts are commendable all around as well. One has to afford some credit to Olivia Thirby for her excellent choices in scripts. Or perhaps luck was a factor. Either way, her debut was in the masterpiece United 93. She then had a part in Snow Angels, but her breakout role occurred in Juno as the best friend of the titular character. With her contribution as Stephanie in The Wackness under her belt, she now has 7 projects on her slate. Not too shabby. Famke Janssen plays a cold-hearted bi**h better than most actresses, and she proves that again as Kristin Squires. Even Mary-Kate Olsen was terrific in her minor part.

The Wackness uses pop-culture references and images to its advantage. However, unlike weaker films, they are not inserted randomly. Luke is seen playing the original Nintendo and listening to cassettes because that is who he is. 1994 was a time of pagers, not cellular phones. Kurt Cobain has just died, and his face can be observed everywhere in NYC, though Luke pays little attention. Writer/Director Jonathan Levine has laced so many hysterical lines to accompany the coming-of-age theme. Levine never gets carried away with the comedy. He understands when to shift gears, flesh out the characters, and further build the storyline.

Every relationship is wonderfully out of the ordinary compared to the majority of related pictures. The time Luke and Stephanie spend together makes sense. They are young, and thankfully that fact is not overlooked in terms of attaining realism. The relationship between Luke and his "boss" Percy (Method Man) is unique in that he is not a stereotypical caricature. The crime and violence that is normally associated with drugs is absent here. Luke is not aggressive with his customers, and he does not flash a weapon. Why should he?

Music is an integral aspect of The Wackness. Hip-hop tracks of old infuse the proceedings with a vibrant rhythm. The genre has changed since then, but in 1994, Luke was listening to the Notorious B.I.G., A Tribe Called Quest, and Nas. The nostalgia of hearing these tunes with such flavor makes one wish for those days to return. Jonathan Levine is adept in grounding specific moments in reality, while knowing precisely when to exaggerate for comedic purposes. His style is energetic, but visually attractive in that he pauses to capture several breathtaking shots. The appearance of The Wackness is desaturated and gritty, but it fits for the location, and adequately accentuates to the indy approach.

Coming-of-age films are often underrated and easy to criticize. The trailer for The Wackness intrigued me, but I had no idea I would become immersed in its universe and mesmerized by its characters. As the sophomore offering for filmmaker Jonathan Levine, he has revealed an ability to take worn concepts and themes, and mold them in an offbeat way. This is not a completely flawless gem, and it did garner the 2008 Sundance Audience Award, but it deserves higher praise still. The transition from high school to college continues to hold the same obstacles, but life has definitely changed since 1994. I guess this can be referred to as a period piece.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe English Movie Online

Rated: PG-13
Theatrical Release: Jul 25, 2008 Wide

Synopsis:

THE X-FILES(TM): I WANT TO BELIEVE is a new motion picture based on the phenomenally popular, award-winning series The X-Files. THE X-FILES(TM): I WANT TO BELIEVE is a new motion picture based on the phenomenally popular, award-winning series The X-Files. Long-anticipated, the film reunites series stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson under the direction of series creator Chris Carter, who co-wrote the screenplay with Frank Spotnitz. In grand The X-Files tradition, the film's storyline is being kept under wraps, known only to top studio brass and the project's principal actors and filmmakers. This much can be revealed: The supernatural thriller is a stand-alone story in the tradition of some of the show's most acclaimed and beloved episodes, and takes the always-complicated relationship between Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson) in unexpected directions. Mulder continues his unshakable quest for the truth, and Scully, the passionate, ferociously intelligent physician, remains inextricably tied to Mulder's pursuits. Months after shooting had wrapped, Carter remained as circumspect about the story as he was during its development and production. "Mulder and Scully are drawn back into the world of the X-Files by a case," is all he'll add about the plot. Perhaps more clues...to something....can be found in the film's title. "I Want to Believe" is a familiar phrase for fans of the series; it was the slogan on a poster that Mulder had hanging in his office at the FBI. "It's a natural title," says Chris Carter. "It's a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. It really does suggest Mulder's struggle with his faith." Carter is much more revealing about his goals for the film. "Simply put, we want to scare the pants off of everyone in the audience," he says. While the scale and scope inherent in the medium of film allowed the filmmakers to take the story and characters where the show couldn't go, Carter says THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE also marks a return to the series' roots, when it was the lone beacon on television for fans of thrillers, supernatural tales, and of horror stories. "The film encompasses all the best things people loved about the show. It's scary, creepy, and has a good mystery. With The X-Files, we often scared people by what they didn't show, and we use that device for the movie." Adds writer-producer Frank Spotnitz: "I think the best part of The X-Files was that it could make you afraid of anything. They didn't tell typical horror stories or adhere to popular genre conventions. And this movie is in that tradition of showing things that you would not see in most scary movies." Unlike the first The X-Files motion picture, released in 1998, Carter and Spotnitz's story for THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE does not require audiences to understand the series' complex mythology that stretched across its nine seasons on the air. "The first movie was kind of an epic episode of the show, but THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE is a real, stand-alone movie," explains Carter. "If the show hadn't existed, this is a story that still would have found its way to the big screen." --© 20th Century Fox

ChanthuPottu Malayalam Movie Online

Radhakrishnan (Dilip) is brought up by his grandmother (Sukumari) as a girl. He is called Radha and moves only with girls. When Radhakrishnan’s father Diwakaran (Lal) comes out of jail for a murder he accidentally committed, he is shocked to find his son a wasted youth. A moneylender (Indrajeet) has eyes on Mallu (Gopika) who is in love with Radha. The moneylender has a score to settle since it was Diwakaran who murdered his father. The moneylender along with Mallu’s father (Rajan P Dev) beat up Radha and throw him into the sea. He is washed away and wakes up in Goa. Freddy (Biju) and Rosa (Bhawana) the Mallu brother and sister duo give Radha shelter. A visitor from his village brings the news that the moneylender murdered his father and grandma and Mallu is carrying his baby. He goes back to take revenge.
Dilip in the garb of the girl excels but later only hams his way through. The director seems confused about whether he should stick to comedy or action and ends up with two plots that are stale. Technically only camerawork is good while music is letdown. Gopika is wasted. Indrajeet does well.

Pothen Vava Malayalam Movie Online

Mammootty and Joshy are back with a bang in Pothen Vava. For quite some time Joshy had been churning out films that lacked his typical touch. Some of them made it at the box office; but those who cherished memories of films like Nirakoottu, New Delhi, Nair Saab, Dhruvam, Kauravar and the like, missed the Joshy stamp in the new releases. Now, after quite a gap, comes a film which has Joshy written all over it. Pothen Vava, in which the Director joins hands with his favourite star Mammootty after a hiatus, is likely to satisfy the fans of both the Director and the actor.

Pothen Vava tells the story of Vava, the son of Kurishuveettil Mariamma, popularly known as Vakeelamma. In his village Palliyangadi, frequent clashes take place between the Vaddakkeyangaadi group led by Kurishuveettil Mariamma and Vava, and the Thekkeyangaadi group led by Pulikaattil Vakkachchan and his sons Anto and Paul. However, Vakkachchan's youngest daughter Gladys, who had been a junior to Vakeelamma when the latter was a practicing lawyer, is now herself a lawyer and with the tacit approval of her father, stands by the Kurishuveettil family in all law-suits.

Meanwhile the usual clashes erupt between the two factions regarding the church festival. When Vava is selected to head the festivities for the year, the Thekkeyangaadi group objects saying that Vava, born to a Christian Mother and a Brahmin father (Melpathoor Vishnu Narayanan Namboothiri, a singer), was never baptized, and so could not head the festivities. Following this objection Vava decides to get baptized, but Vakeelamma says that he must first seek his father's permission, though his father and mother had been divorced years ago.

Vava goes to see his father who is now a renowned singer. He is welcomed by his father's manager Sivankutty, Sivankutty's sister Gayathri and others. But there is someone who wants to see Vava dead. This leads to the climax of the film, which has been well written and well filmed.

Pothen Vava may not be a great film, but it is an enjoyable one with drama, action, comedy, sentiments et al in the right dosage. The major attraction is that the film does not bore you. Mammootty gives a good performance as Vava, while Usha Uthup is good as Vakeelamma. Nedumudi Venu as Melpathoor Vishnu Narayanan Namboothiri, Gopika as Gladys, Rajan P. Dev as Vakkachchan, Saikumar as Sivankutty, and Samvritha as Gayathri do justice to their roles. Manikandan, who plays Vava's constant companion Mathai, is brilliantly funny.

Benny P. Nayarambalam has done a tight script, adding in right measure all the ingredients that go to make a commercially successful film. Cinematographer Sanjeev Shankar, Art Director Joseph Nellickal and Editor Ranjan Abraham have given ample support to the Director. Songs penned by Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma and set to tune by Alex Paul may not be as appealing as the songs of Classmates, but they certainly blend well with the story. To sum up, Lal Creations has delivered yet another film that could set the cash registers ringing.
